Shimmer highlighters are the latest craze in the beauty world and for many is the most exciting product to apply when doing their makeup in the morning. You can go for a more natural look by applying a little or you can go all out by applying more.

Another use is to open up the eyes. By adding a little bit of highlighter to the inner corners of the eyes makes you look awake and gives the appearance of bigger eyes. Applying it just under the eyebrow also helps to bring dimension to your eye makeup by giving it a lift.

Some people also use highlighter to achieve fuller looking lips; this look has become a favourite due to celebs such as Kylie Jenner. Applying a little bit on the cupids bow and in the centre of your lips on top of your lipstick, gives the illusion of fuller lips.

There are both cream and powder highlights that are available on the market ranging from as little as £1.99 all the way up to £35.

Nearly every beauty guru and YouTuber has raved about the Mary-Lou Manizer highlight powder by the Balm cosmetics, there has been a lot of hype around it in the beauty world.

The highlighter is gold toned and is amazingly pigmented suiting pretty much every skin tone. You don’t need to apply a lot of product to get a lovely glow on the face. It is on the pricey side costing £20 that can be purchased at Debenhams, Boots and Superdrugs.  However the quality is definitely reflected in the price.

To make the highlight pop even more I apply the Glow All Out cheek stick in sheer luminous finish by Soap and Glory. This is a cream highlighter. I apply this directly on the high points of my cheeks and then smooth it out with my fingers. On the top of this I apply the Mary-Lou Manizer with a fan brush. I also apply it to the inner corners of my eyes and just below my eyebrows. This combo is my favourite and I feel like adding the cream highlighter underneath makes it last longer.

They hype over the Mary-Lou Manizer is well deserved, it is absolutely beautiful and is totally worth the price, it polishes any kind of makeup look.
